My Experience
As an artist, I was quickly drawn to this café, not only for its aesthetic, but its mission to support local creators. I remember the first time I walked by it on my way to Deeper Roots down the street. I read “coffee and art” on the sign and nearly abandoned my plans…I decided against it as the Deeper Roots gift card in my pocket had the final say. I came back the next day however.
Sunlight peaks through the windows to catch a glimpse of the art for itself. It fills the room and paints the walls. You follow its gaze around the room to decide for yourself which piece of art you like best. Hippo Campus plays in the background, accompanied by soft chatter and the warm scent of coffee. This would more than likely describe your experience at Red Tree.
The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s one of those places where the lighting strikes the inside beautifully. You walk in and all is silhouette until your eyes focus and find art at every glance. Directly to the left you’ll find beautifully hand-made jewelry, glassworks, and cards. Look forward and to the left to find a wall covered in large, vibrant painted silk collages. Straight ahead on the collage-painted far wall, you’ll find entrancing patterns and tessellations of color. Turn to the room in the right to find framed paintings adorning the worn-brick walls around an eclectic mix of vintage cameras, old lamps, circular mirrors, and brown leather couch. Red Tree truly has a personality of its own, a thoughtful and poetic personality, and one that is kind and graceful.
