Mom 'N ' Em

❤️ ☕️ Welcome to Mom ‘N ‘Em, where Cincinnati’s favorite momma is serving up some of the best coffee and baked goods in the city. This cozy cafe made its debut in 2019 when two Cincy-born brothers decided to open a coffee shop in honor of their mom. Little did they know how in just a few years the shop would become one of Cincinnati’s most renowned cafes. Check it out!

My Experience

Mom ‘N ‘Em is perhaps my favorite spot in Cincy. And here’s why…

When I returned from college, I wanted to find a coffee shop like the one I frequented in Tennessee—a converted home with different rooms and nooks, having a vintage personality and small-town feel. I knew I’d never find this in any of the big coffee chains, and, while Mom ‘N ‘Em is no Cincinnati secret, it certainly has an esoteric feel to it.

The first time I visited was with a friend of mine and, since then, I’ve had no trouble continuing to find things to love about it.

The vibes of both shops, though completely different, are transportive. In Camp Washington, I found exactly what I was looking for and more: a converted home that mixes vintage items with rustic bricks and wood that add up to an overall comfortably eclectic atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in Madisonville, I found myself in a different era. Upon walking through the front door, I was struck by the bright natural lighting, bold colors, retro wood paneling, and plant-life as though I stepped back into the 1950’s…minus the war.

If you’re wanting a cute date spot, I’d go for the Camp Washington location with its separated rooms decorated with that antiquated personality. It’s not too quiet, and not too loud, which also makes it a great place for studying. Each room has multiple seating areas, so you will likely not have a room to yourself. But that also means your conversation will not stand out over the chatter of other people in the shop, along with the mellow music playing overhead. So you’ll have opportunity to tell each other how much you love one another without everyone listening.

And, while the Madisonville location is truly Instagram worthy, it’s one shared spacious room with plenty of options for seating. So, it’s louder than the Camp Washington shop and less intimate, in regards to being a date or study spot. Having said that, however, if you are looking for a place to hang with your friends with freedom to be loud, Madisonville is your spot.
